(9 juni 2008) Vandaag de dag gaat het wel goed met Dresden. De economie trekt op, wat betekent dat de mensen meer hebben te besteden en de winkels opzoeken. Dresden biedt verschillende winkelgebieden aan, maar de grote vraag is: wat heeft Dresden nu werkelijk te bieden op het gebied van winkelen?

In de Neustadt vind je de Königstraße. Dit is een lange straat met huizen die in de stijl van de barok zijn gebouwd. Je kunt ook door de straat heen wandelen zonder te winkelen.

Alles is niet zo lang geleden gerestaureerd en de straat is echt een lust voor het oog. Er zijn winkels aan de straat zelf, maar zij zitten ook in de talloze binnenhofjes. Deze hofjes geven de straat nog een extra dimensie van chic en gezelligheid. De winkels verkopen exclusieve spullen. Deze straat is zeker de moeite waard om in te gaan winkelen.

Altmarkt Galerie

In de Altstadt heb je vlakbij de Frauenkirche een plein genaamd de Altmarkt. Vroeger was dit een echt ouderwets marktplein met kraampjes en aangrenzende kleine straatjes met winkeltjes. Nu staat er echter een geheel nieuw winkelcentrum genaamd de Altmarkt Galerie.

Het biedt Duitse merken zoals Rossmann, Lili Mode of Jeans Live, maar ook internationale merken zoals Zara, Mexx, New Yorker of Vero Moda. Ook heeft het winkelcentrum iets duurdere merken zoals Lacoste of Villleroy&Boch. De Altmarkt Galerie heeft ook nog genoeg eetgelegenheden. Je hebt een restaurant genaamd Nordsee, maar ook een gezellige tapasbar genaamd Rápido. Beiden hebben een hoge kwaliteit van kaart en service.

Het winkelcentrum is geopend van maandag tot en met zaterdag van half tien ’s ochtends tot negen uur ’s avonds. Tegen betaling kan je parkeren in de bijgelegen parkeergarage.

Buiten het overdekte winkelcentrum heb je nog een aangrenzende straat met winkels en ook in het gebied eromheen kun je bijvoorbeeld nog sportartikelen of sieraden vinden.

Als je iets verder loopt kom je terecht in de Prager Straße. Dit is de populairste winkelstraat van Dresden. Het is een brede straat met winkelpanden met hoge ramen. Alles is heel erg open en licht wat het winkelen in deze straat erg prettig maakt. Je hebt het gevoel dat je de ruimte hebt. De straat is geheel vernieuwd en is een volledig autovrij winkelgebied geworden.

Je vindt hier de internationale merken, zoals H&M, maar ook weer nationale en regionale merken. Verderop in de straat heb je een groot plein met terrasjes en eettentjes. Hier kun je even uitrusten en van het zonnetje genieten. In deze straat zit ook een hele grote nieuwe bioscoop, de UFA-Kristallpalast. Deze is ook zeer zeker de moeite waard.

Deze drie winkelgebieden zijn allemaal op hun eigen manier weer de moeite waard. Als je toch het gevoel hebt dat het niet genoeg kan zijn, kan je naast deze straten nog overal in Dresden talloze straatjes vinden met ondernemers die ook erg mooie spullen aanbieden. Kort gezegd is Dresden voor de echte shopfanaat een waardige stad en kun je hier naar hartenlust een aantal uren besteden!
